Completion of the renovation of St Mary’s, including the re-roofing of the choir. This part of the church was damaged during the siege of Haddington (1547–1549) and left ruinous when the church was restored following the siege.
The building was known to have been severely damaged during the siege of Haddington in 1548. For hundreds of years after the siege the church was exposed to the elements. Up until the renovations in the early 1970s it was only the West section that was used for worship, with the East, North and South sections open to the elements.
